Privacy Policy
The short version: this site collects almost nothing, we never sell personal information, and when you email us we use your address to reply. The long version follows.
1. Who we are
ActiveWater Labs, LLC ("ActiveWater Labs," "we," "us," or "our") is a United States water-technology company. We design and build precision dosing systems for filtered water, including our flagship product, MineralDose™. For the purposes of applicable data-protection law, ActiveWater Labs, LLC is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.
2. Scope of this policy
This policy covers activewaterlabs.com — our corporate website — and the information we handle when you visit it or contact us through it.
It does not cover:
- mineraldose.com, our product site, which operates a waitlist and advertising measurement and has its own privacy policy;
- MineralDose™ devices, companion apps, or connected services, which will be governed by their own product privacy documentation when they ship;
- third-party sites we link to (for example Kickstarter, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook).
3. Information we collect
This is a deliberately simple website. It has no user accounts, no sign-up forms, no analytics scripts, and no advertising pixels. The information we handle falls into two categories:
| Category | Examples | Source | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Information you send us | Your email address, name if you include one, and the contents of your message | You, when you email us (e.g., hello@activewaterlabs.com) | Responding to your inquiry and keeping a record of the correspondence |
| Technical log data | IP address, browser type and version, requested pages, timestamps, referring URL | Automatically, by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) when serving the site | Serving the site, security, abuse and denial-of-service protection, debugging |
We do not collect, and ask that you do not send, sensitive personal information (such as health, biometric, or financial account information) through this website.
4. How we use information
- To respond to you. If you email us, we use your address and message to reply and to handle whatever you asked about (press, partnership, careers, privacy, or support routing).
- To operate and protect the site. Technical log data is used to deliver pages, maintain security, and diagnose problems.
- To meet legal obligations. We may retain and use information where required to comply with law or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not use information from this website for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making, and we never sell personal information.
5. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK visitors)
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process personal information on these bases:
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — operating and securing the website, and corresponding with the people who write to us;
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — where you voluntarily provide information, such as by emailing us;
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where retention or disclosure is required by law.
6. How information is shared
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the company, and only as needed:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts and serves this website and processes technical log data as our service provider;
- Email providers — deliver and store the correspondence you send us;
- Professional advisors and authorities — where required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
If ActiveWater Labs is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, correspondence records may transfer as part of that transaction; this policy would continue to apply to them until replaced.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
7. Cookies & tracking
activewaterlabs.com sets no first-party cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set strictly-necessary cookies in limited circumstances for security (for example, bot mitigation). Details are in our Cookie Policy.
Fonts and every other asset on this site are served directly from our own domain — while you browse, your browser makes no requests to third-party content networks.
8. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our service providers operate global infrastructure. If you visit from outside the US, your information will be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, which may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses implemented by our providers.
9. Data retention
- Correspondence — kept as long as needed to handle the matter and for a reasonable period afterward (typically no more than 24 months after the thread goes quiet), unless the law requires longer or the correspondence relates to an ongoing relationship or legal matter.
- Technical logs — retained by our hosting provider on short rolling windows and not kept by us long-term.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the small amount of data we handle: the site is served exclusively over HTTPS, access to our email and hosting accounts is protected with strong authentication, and access is limited to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of your information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- request portability of information you provided;
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the EEA/UK, your data-protection authority).
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@activewaterlabs.com with the subject "Privacy request." We will verify the request against the email address involved and respond within the time required by applicable law (and in any case, we aim for 30 days). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
12. US state privacy rights
For residents of California and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws (including the CCPA/CPRA):
- We collect only the categories of information described in Section 3: identifiers you voluntarily provide (email address, name) and internet activity information (server logs).
- We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined by the CCPA. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
- We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information, and we do not have actual knowledge of collecting information from consumers under 16.
- You may exercise access, deletion, and correction rights as described in Section 11, including through an authorized agent.
13. Children's privacy
This website is a corporate site intended for a general adult audience. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Third-party links
Our pages link to external sites — including mineraldose.com, Kickstarter, and our social channels. Those services have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to review their policies before providing information.
15. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the revised version here and update the effective date at the top. If we ever make a material change to how we handle previously collected personal information, we will provide more prominent notice on this site. Earlier versions are available on request.
